RPX Corp
(Fall 2021-Spring 2022)

This fall I was extremely lucky in obtaining a Patent Analysis internship with RPX Corporation, a legal company based out of the Bay Area. This opportunity is unique in that it isn't a built-in co-op term according to my university schedule; instead, I recognized my passion for the legal side of computer engineering as a chance to embark on my own for additional professional enrichment.

Working remotely has given me the flexibility to learn the ins and outs of patent law in a way that mutually works for me and my team. While taking classes or helping run student org events, I was still able to provide value and insight as an analyst intern. This could range from looking through portfolios to provide high level summaries, to creating client files with relevant risk factors, even to examining an asset's file history for clues to its intended usage.

This was a truly transformative work experience, and boosted my professional confidence markedly. I was able to work with massive corporations, see exactly what makes something likely (or unlikely) to be litigated against, and put my engineering skillset and knowledge to use in a truly unique way.
